Notes from the meadow

Field Notes

A short, honest account of what West Meadow Ridge is — the spirit we're after, the kind of player it suits, and the way it's quietly put together behind the scenes.

How people play here

The short break

“I keep it open between tasks. Three spins of the meadow, then back to work — it resets my head without pulling me in.”

The experimenter

“No money means no nerves. I'll push the ridge climb one card too far just to see what happens, and laugh when it slips.”

The unwinder

“It's so warm and quiet. It doesn't feel like a casino trying to trap me — more like a calm little game by a window.”

These reflections describe the play-for-fun spirit of the place — illustrative of how it's meant to feel, not testimonials about winnings, because there are none to speak of.

What it's built from

West Meadow Ridge is a native theme made of plain, hand-written code. Both games run in vanilla JavaScript — no game engines, no heavy frameworks, no third-party trackers. Styles load with a fast first paint, fonts and the main stylesheet load asynchronously, and each game starts only on its own page. Every page is readable without JavaScript thanks to written content and noscript fallbacks.

What it leaves out

  • No real money. No deposits, withdrawals, purchases or prizes — anywhere.
  • No accounts. No sign-up, no passwords, no profiles.
  • No tracking. No advertising cookies, no analytics fingerprinting, no data resale.
  • No dark patterns. No fake urgency, no loss-chasing nudges, no endless pings.

These aren't gaps we forgot to fill — they're the point. Strip away money, accounts and surveillance, and what remains is a small, honest game you can enjoy and close without a trace.
